I make art to understand the logic of the social systems that have made me and in which I must live. My practice is one of uncovering this logic, revealing its patterns to myself. I work with structures found in the historical archive and in daily life. I use exaggeration, humor, juxtaposition, and what I call “cartoon logic.” Cartoons are useful because, like propaganda, they have a clear intent. An inanimate object lives and breathes underwater, has three fingers, eats with its ears. Like propaganda, it’s all about the winning narrative.

I immigrated from South Korea and currently live and work in Baltimore, MD.
